Head of Investor Relations

Lowercarbon Capital backs kickass companies that make real money slashing CO2 emissions, sucking carbon out of the sky, and buying us time to unf**k the planet. At its heart, our work is about mobilizing capital at a large scale and funneling it towards solutions that will make a meaningful dent in the fight against climate change while returning big multiples on our investors’ money. The good news? It’s working and the investment community has caught on. The inbound interest has become a little nuts. That’s where you come in.

We’re bringing on a Head of Investor Relations to own our future fundraising. This includes managing relationships with our investor base, handling incoming offers to invest, sourcing new partners that are strategically aligned with our mission, and building an LP community that can support our portfolio not just as investors but as customers, recruiters, and partners.

This is a full time position with industry-competitive compensation and your first day of work should’ve been yesterday. The ideal candidate has several years of experience on the investor relations side in venture capital, private equity, or at a hedge fund. Our team is remote, so you can work from anywhere, though being based in the US certainly makes it easier to not screw up time zones when putting Zooms in the calendar.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Investor Relations, you’ll support Lowercarbon’s General Partners in all aspects of the fundraising process. Responsibilities will vary, but will definitely include:

  • Maintaining an LP database of key information including sectors, location, where they stand in the pipeline, and other details
  • Managing our relationships with our investors and field questions and requests both during the fundraising process and after
  • Organize the fundraising process including the coordination of meetings, communications, and distribution of materials
  • Source new LPs aligned with and strategic to our broader mission of unf**king the planet

Skills & Background

Here are some characteristics that will come in handy for this job, but this list isn’t exhaustive and we look forward to meeting with a diverse group of candidates.

  • Fluent in finance and accounting: You have a bachelor’s degree or an MBA in business, finance, or accounting and a robust understanding of SEC laws, regulations, and filing requirements for private equity funds
  • Experienced: You have 6+ years’ experience in investor relations in venture capital, private equity, or high-growth tech startups dealing with investors, and a strong track record of creating positive relations with the investor community. Bonus points if you’ve worked as an investor at an investment bank or investment fund
  • Independent operator: You are comfortable working on your own and implementing best practices for fundraising and LP management
  • Strong communication skills: Your writing is clear and concise, and your responses come fast (<12 hours) in time-sensitive situations for LPs
  • Strong attention to detail: You take pride in the accuracy and polish of your work. Whether it’s an internal memo or a conference presentation, you sweat the details
  • Highly organized: You enjoy bringing order to chaos. That crucial piece of information is never more than a few clicks or keystrokes away
  • Careful and discreet: You know how to handle sensitive and confidential information, and share just the right amount of need-to-know details when communicating with others
  • Demonstrated commitment to climate: You’re driven by the need to meaningfully address the challenge of our lifetime

How to Apply

If you want to raise your hand for this gig, please head over to this fancy application form and give us the following:

  1. One-page résumé, attached or linked. Highlight your professional experience, as well as any early minimum wage grinds.
  2. Names and emails for at least two people who you have directly helped, how you helped them, and who will vouch for your impact.
  3. Tell us about something you have overcome. (This can be however personal is comfortable. No pressure at all. We just find that resilience correlates with success, and we want to allow everyone to round out their story in ways that might not show up on a resume.)
  4. Give us the three-sentence pitch on why someone, or some institution, should invest in Lowercarbon Capital.
  5. Explain to us why, if we give you your piece of the profits, the remaining amount of the profit pool that the rest of the team keeps will be worth more as a consequence of you being here. How will hiring you directly help us unf**k the planet?

We believe diversity is a source of strength. Lowercarbon Capital is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
